This website provides a series of printable posters on topics related
to the planet Mercury. Each poster
focuses on a specific topic relevant to the planet and is intended
for a general audience. The posters are provided in an 8.5" x 11" pdf format
versions available
for printing. The pdf formated files require Adode Reader which can be
downloaded for free at http://www.adobe.com.
Mercury is the closest planet to the sun and until recently, little was known
about it. The Mariner10 spacecraft passed by the planet three times in the
years 1975-1976 and imaged about 45% of the surface. With the MESSENGER spacecraft
currently in orbit around the planet as of March 18, 2011, research on Mercury is
quickly advancing. MESSENGER has now imaged nearly the entire surface of the planet
and is providing a wealth of data from seven instruments. These posters are intended
to foster learning and understanding about this planet and the new discoveries being made.
